Connecting Galaxy Tab in USB mode

Samsung Galaxy Tab

I was developing some stuff for my Samsung Galaxy Tab using the Android SDK and Eclipse. Just follow the simple steps below to get your device detected by Android SDK.

  • First, go to the Samsung site and download Samsung Kies. Install it and then plug in your device.
  • Run Kies. It should now automatically detect your tab and display it’s contents. If it does so, then it means that the USB Drivers for your device is installed by Kies.
  • In order to run the application successfully on the device, the tab should be first set to Debugging Mode. This can be done by simply going to Settings>Application>Development>USB Debugging. Make sure debugging is turned on.
  • After you have created your application, Run it and it should show you an option of connecting either with the live device or with the emulator. Choose your tab from that screen and voila ! The apk file installs on your device and runs it !

Here comes Amazon Kindle Fire Tablet

Amazon Kindle Fire

I just finished watching a review of the latest device by Amazon, the Amazon Kindle Fire. And after watching the review, I was still gaping at the screen. Talk about value for money !!!

From the first looks of it, the smooth UI and the menus really caught my attention. The way you can seamlessly navigate through various content is just amazing. Whether it is about reading a Wired Magazine or listening to music  or watching a movie or playing angry birds or even browsing, everything runs so smoothly thanks to the dual core processor.

There is a tablet-optimised shopping app on board – this is said to comprise simplified and streamlined pages, so it is easier to buy stuff on than the actual Amazon website. You will be able to multi-task on the tablet too – so listening to music and reading at the same time is possible. You can switch between actions by bringing a screen down from the UI.

Amazon has said the Kindle Fire will have access to 100,000 movies and TV shows, 17 million songs, access to the Amazon Appstore and Kindle books.

The sad part is that there is no provision for camera, mic or even 3G. It’s simply a WiFi model.

Reading Magazines on the Kindle Fire couldn’t get better. The richness of the color and textures are preserved and hence you can get the full experience of reading a printed magazine. As we all know, ebook reading is all together at a whole new level with this new device.

The build of the tablet is good and it gives a good feeling to just hold it.

And all this for a whopping $199 !!!!!!!!

Here’s the video review of this amazing device:

Is the iPhone 5 wait finally over ??

Tim Cook Apple CEO

As apple fans all over the world are thrilled and gripped with anxiety about the upcoming iPhone 5, there might as well be a reason for all of us to rejoice.

AllThingsD claims that Apple will be holding a major media event on the 4th of October, and that the event will be hosted by newly appointed CEO Tim Cook. With all the rumours going around about the release of iPhone5 in october, could this be it ??

Textbooks of Tommorow

We all have witnessed the transformation of books from printed to pdf’s to finally epub’s which can be read on dedicated readers and other tablets like the iPad. People around the world are now moving into the scenario where they prefer to carry around their tablet devices wherever they go rather than a bag containing books. Now with the advent of ebooks, hundreds of ebooks can now be compressed to a device weighing almost equivalent to a magazine like Digit !

Here below is a survey conducted by onlineeducation.net that shows the future of digital books :
