Google will supercharge its android OS by moving to acquire Motorola Mobility Holdings for $12.5 billion. Larry Page, CEO of google wrote on his blog yesterday that Motorola acquisition will help boost evolving Android platform launched 4 yrs ago by Google.
Today more than 150 million Android devices have been activated worldwide through a network of about 39 manufacturers and 231 carriers in about 123 countries.
The transaction between the companies have been approved by the board members of both companies. It is expected to be finalised by late 2011 or early 2012. Motorola had heavily invested in android devices in 2008 as its sole operating system across all of its smartphones. The belief in android platform, says Page is the main reason for the ease and compliance in this transaction.
With the iphone 5 and the iPad 3 launching in, I was kinda worried about how android would come back. And lo ! Way to go Mr. Larry Page ! All right Apple !!! The game’s on !!!!
