Adobe announces Flash Player 11 and AIR 3

Adobe Flash Player 11

Adobe has officially announced flash player 11 and AIR 3 to provide the next generation experience on various devices including Android, Apple iOS, Blackberry Tablet OS, Mac OS and other platforms.

Flash Player 11 and AIR 3 will allow game publishers to instantly deliver high quality 2D and 3D games over the Internet to nearly all PCs and many other devices.

Dozens of new features in Flash Player 11 and AIR 3 allow developers to showcase a new class of gaming and premium video experiences, as well as data-driven applications with back-end systems integration across devices, including the iPhone and iPad via AIR. AIR native extensions add support for unique device features and native code libraries, empowering developers to freely choose between the combo of Flash, HTML5 and native code to provide powerful user experiences across PCs and devices.

New BlackBerry phones to support Android?

Hit by weakening sales, Research In Motion plans to add Android support to next year’s lineup of new BlackBerry smartphones. The new Android-compatible phones will run the company’s QNX software and debut in early 2012. A story earlier this month from the blog Boy Genius Report said that RIM will launch its first QNX-powered BlackBerry, code-named Colt, during the first quarter of 2012.

The move toward Android support is designed to enhance the appeal of BlackBerrys and shake up sales, which have taken a dive due to tight competition from the iPhone and Android devices. The statistics I’ve posted earlier on my blog (http://wp.me/p1DdhW-2q) proves it.

The PlayBook tablet was supposed to be capable of running Android apps by now, but the tablet’s support for Google’s OS has reportedly been delayed until this fall.

Blackberry Messenger coming to Android,iOS

With the tight competition between Google Android and Apple iOS, Blackberry is literally out of the picture and the future seems to be questionable. Another big issue faced BB is the low preference of developers to favor building apps for RIM instead of Android or iOS. So definitely RIM needs to do something that can bring BB back into the race. And the move to import BB Messenger into these platforms seems to be the solution. There are alternatives like Whatsapp that are used in android and iOS. They feel it would encourage people to buy the Blackberry smartphone since the messenger app for Android phones would be a stripped down version of the original where one can’t send locations, photos etc. Even the upcoming Blackberry Playbook is said to include certain apps from the Android apps. And this too would be a risky move since it would take the share from the Playbook app market.

So the question here is ” What’s BB exactly planning to do ?? Distribute their unique apps to other platforms and rip off the brand ??? “
