Adobe announces Flash Player 11 and AIR 3

Adobe Flash Player 11

Adobe has officially announced flash player 11 and AIR 3 to provide the next generation experience on various devices including Android, Apple iOS, Blackberry Tablet OS, Mac OS and other platforms.

Flash Player 11 and AIR 3 will allow game publishers to instantly deliver high quality 2D and 3D games over the Internet to nearly all PCs and many other devices.

Dozens of new features in Flash Player 11 and AIR 3 allow developers to showcase a new class of gaming and premium video experiences, as well as data-driven applications with back-end systems integration across devices, including the iPhone and iPad via AIR. AIR native extensions add support for unique device features and native code libraries, empowering developers to freely choose between the combo of Flash, HTML5 and native code to provide powerful user experiences across PCs and devices.

iPad’s and iPhones can finally play flash videos !

Media publishers can now stream Flash-based video to iPhones and iPads, Adobe Systems has announced.

Adobe yesterday released Flash Media Server 4.5, which introduces support for Apple’s iOS mobile operating system. It does this by letting broadcasters stream Flash-based video content in an Apple-derived format, HTTP Live Streaming (HLS).

However, the advent of Flash Media Server 4.5 only enables Flash video streaming to iPhones and iPads. Flash-based games, animations and advertisements will still not work on such devices. Finally after a long struggle, Flash finds its way into the iOS !

Adobe builds Flash alternative which extends compatibility to iOS devices

Thanks to a new Flash alternative released, Adobe software will finally be compatible with Apple’s mobile devices. Adobe Edge is a new HTML5-powered design tool that the company says will complement its existing suite of web software, including the famously not iPhone-friendly Flash software. In its press release announcing the release, Adobe talks at length about the power of HTML5 and their continued contributions to building products that cater to the new web standard.

HTML5 has been all the rage in the developer world for a while. Now seven years in the making, the web programming language was always meant to be a more powerful and more open web standard. Not many people outside of the coder community knew about HTML5 until April 2010 when Steve Jobs explained on Apple’s website why his company’s mobile devices didn’t support Adobe’s Flash animation software.

And finally comes the main question from the minds of flash developers including me from all over the world : ” Does Adobe Edge mean the end of Flash ???

Air for Android extension for Flash cs5 to develop apps for android devices

I’m very fond of creating stuff using flash and also a newbie developer. Recently I came to know about Air for android and iOS that helps a flash developer to design and even publish their apps to Android/Apple Market. The instructions on how to set up an app was straightforward but to my shock, adobe had removed this extension a few months ago due to the integration of latest Air version in the Adobe CS 5.5 Master Suite. So I was really searching around and finally after lot of navigating, found the extension. I know that lots of people want this file desperately and so I’m providing the download link below. If you face any problem, let me know. Cheerz 🙂
